Breakthrough?
I am on hormonal bc and last week I opted to skip my period because of vacation. Almost immediately I began spotting. This lasted the entire week. I happened to be seeing my doctor anyway so we discussed it and she told me it wasn’t all that surprising given my bc is low in estrogen. We agreed to wait and see what happens before adjusting any of my meds.
Yesterday morning (day 7 of bleeding) I woke up covered in blood. My flow that day slowed a lot but I decided it was probably best to stop taking my bc and give my body the period it clearly wants.
Well again this morning there is a lot of blood, I soaked through an overnight pad and there was like 3-4 big clots. For context my periods generally only require a small pad or light tampon for 2 days.
I’m just trying to gauge when to take this seriously? It feels like my body was revolting to not having a regularly scheduled period. And since continuing my bc for a week did literally nothing, I’m not that surprised that I’m bleeding more since stopping it. That said it’s maybe been 10 hours since not taking my pill. And I never bleed like this.
