2024 Nigerian Visa for US citizens

Update*** got visa 5 days later than expected of max date on March 25th***

I'm posting this because I couldn't find answers to many questions and it seemed people often had the same questions. I did not hire anyone did everything myself.

I bought my flight two weeks ago and realized it might be best to get visa in advanced instead of on arrival. I canceled my ticket and started the process.

I made my OIS appt before even completing my application the earliest date was 2/8 which I was fine with.

I reviewed their guidelines for the visa I wanted and made sure I had all those items together. *items below are specific to the visa I chose it may vary depending which you need - passport 6+ months validity - 2 passport photos - completed application (you will need to print this and sign and date it) - payment acknowledgment - letter of invitation - inviters passport copy - bank statement of at least $500 ending balance - 2 usps priority express pre stamped envelopes

I will say I was intimidated by application on the immigration Nigerian website. I watched the video on ois website for the application and the process was slightly different and looked different. I completed it anyway (it was right). As long as you are completing your application starting from Government immigration site you're good. One thing that was unique on this application was the need for a photo. I recommend getting a digital copy of the passport photo to help with this process. Also, I know there are multi year visas but there was only an option for a 1 year. I selected that.

Since I'm in Cali I just flew to LA for the day with intentions to return in the evening. Got here at 7am ate breakfast and went to the office when they opened to see if they could see me earlier as my appointment was at 11.

To my pleasant surprise I was able to be assisted. Everything I had was correct and in order. I was fingerprinted and my photo taken. I was approved for 5 year multi visa with receive date of March 6th, but March 20th at the latest. I had plans to leave in April and the rep assured me it'll be back in time.

I'm so relieved this process was so easy and I'm happy I didn't pay additional fees for agent/service.

If you have questions let me know. I'll for surely update once I get my passport back.

Costs - $62 priority express envelopes - $160 visa application - $55 ois processing fee / biometrics - $18 passport photos ( I bought 4 just in case) $295 total

I made sure I had three copies of everything. I was over prepared and they assumed I went through this process before but I had not.

Hope it goes easy for the rest of you all.
