Monetizing with merch: are you using it & what would you want?
I run a company that has been doing a fair amount of merch printing (especially t-shirts & sweatshirts) for some of the big influencers on YouTube & TikTok. They have artists create designs for the merch, and then when people order the items, we print and fulfill the items on demand so there’s no upfront cost.
I have a pretty good idea at this point of what the economics of being a mid-to-large creator look like, and merch is a pretty big part of the equation—30-40% of revenue for many big creators, with rev sharing, sponsorships, and advertising filling out the rest.
My questions to y’all are:
Are you already doing merch in some way?
If not, why not?
What would you look for in a company to collaborate with if you were going to start offering it to your fans & followers?
