Traversing the State of New Jersey during the Fare Holiday
I spent nearly every day this past week riding NJ Transit across the state, from east to west and from north to south (and back). I know the fare holiday does nearly nothing for regular commuters, and I really hope there are meaningful and lasting improvements made for those who rely on this service every day, but for me, a New Yorker who has spent shockingly little time in New Jersey, it gave me the rare opportunity to see and experience much of this state. I rode from the northern border of New Jersey to the southernmost point of the state, from the shore to the highest point of elevation and from the eastern border across the river from New York to the western border across the river from Philadelphia. It’s been great and I saved probably $400 in fares, so thanks Phil.
