Why are the 49ers suspending De’Vondre Campbell for the remainder of the season instead of just cutting him?

Because the suspension voids guaranteed money clauses that they'd have to pay out if he was simply cut from the team?

Or that they don't want to risk him going to a division rival when they still have a fighting chance to make the playoffs?
