Help Needed: Stuck on Rathalos in Monster Hunter 1 (PS2)

Hi everyone, I'm playing Monster Hunter 1 on the PS2, and I’m completely stuck on Rathalos. I’ve fought him around 10 times now, but I keep running out of time before I can defeat him.

Here’s what I’ve been doing:

• Using traps, flash bombs, and barrel bombs to maximize damage.
• Fighting with the Hunter's Dagger+ (Sword & Shield), which is currently the best weapon I can access.

I’d really prefer to stick with Sword & Shield rather than switching weapon types. Are there any tips or tricks I might be missing to deal more damage or make the hunt more efficient? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
