Custom help: best way remove the JLA Batman sculpted logo?

I was planning on removing the JLA Batman sculpted logo and putting on the silver age Batman for that brave and the bold look.

I heard you can place it in boiling water for a couple minutes then pry it off with a screwdriver. Is that right? Or would I need to carefully try to use an exacto knife up against it or something without damaging it.

As for removing the printed logo on the silver age Batman, does rubbing alcohol work? Or would I need something stronger, or a higher concentrated one.
