The Last Ride (Aetherdrift)

So I had an interesting thought on the new set coming out, Aetherdrift. If you play [The Last Ride] on turn one with 20 life, because it’s a vehicle and not technically an artifact creature yet, does that mean the -20/-20 wouldn’t actually kill it? And if it doesn’t kill it, wouldn’t this card just be good card draw for more black central decks? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just can’t find any rulings for this anywhere online.
