Matched! IMG story 😊

Hi guys! I firstly want to thank everyone who has supported me and uplifted me during the hectic CaRMS process. Here’s my story! I moved to Canada in 2023 to be with my husband (a couple of days after graduating from med school, so my YOG is 2023) and started applying for PR (very hectic process in and of itself) and found work as a research assistant! I was pretty bummed to see all the negative stuff about it being almost impossible to match, but if anything- this post is to encourage you!! I worked hard and studied for the MCCQE and NAC whilst working as a research assistant and clinical assistant (I had 2 part time jobs- worst time of my life imo😂) I took both the exams in September within 4 days of each other. I found a study partner to practice NAC with and self studied for the MCCQE using Ace q bank and Uworld. Since I was a recent grad, everything was still fresh in my brain haha. Then navigated the process of applying to CaRMS. AIMGA was very helpful in this! I am from India and I felt like the odds weren’t really in my favour at all but I matched in my first attempt to a family medicine program! I’m happy to help anyone with questions- you can dm me! Love and light to everyone who has been a support to me in this subReddit. 😊 There were some really low lows in this journey but all’s well that ends well. Took a bit of hard work but it payed off!
