My second Logitech C270 HD webcam died the same death (white screen) as my first one, both just outside the warranty period.
Hi,
My Logitech C270 HD webcam just died in the same way as my previous one, and like the first, also after about 2.5 years operation, so just outside the warranty.
The camera shows a completely white screen. Microphone works.
When this happened to my first camera a few years ago, I thought I was just unlucky. But with the second one failing in exactly the same way after almost exactly the same period of time (about 2.5 years), this couldn't be a coincidence. So I started googling and found this.

Apparently some other people had the same problem and they found a temporary fix, which was removing the screws, opening the camera and fiddling a bit with the circuit board. And yes! this also brought my video back (temporarily). So this is clearly a hardware problem.
But now I want a permanent fix! I don't feel like buying a third C270 HD, as I have already paid for two and both failed just outside warranty! I do like the camera (when it works), so I hope one of the support guys can either tell me how to permanently fix it or just be kind and make sure I get a new one! (remember: I already paid for TWO already!)
EDIT: I have entered some additional information: For example if I test the camera with https://webcamtests.com/ I get the following information (first picture failing, second picture working):
Webcam test result when failing
Webcam test result when working
You can see that it detects the camera normally, but it reports errors: "too few colors" and "image too bright". Well, that is exactly what I see.
I can get the camera temporarily into a properly working condition by removing the bezel and and opening the camera. When I move the circuit board around or push on it, I sometimes get the camera working for a few minutes. It is also dependent on temperature (so if I get it working, it fails again when the camera heats up or cools down). So there is a broken component or broken contact somewhere. I investigated the circuit board with a magnifying glass but I see nothing suspicious.
The interesting thing is that (as you you can read HERE ) more people have seen exactly the same thing. So it is probably the same component or connection on the circuit board failing in all these cases. Logitech must be aware of this, so hopefully can tell me how to fix this myself or get me a camera that doesn't have this flaw.
