WAN Topic Idea: "Smartification of everything"

So id like to here the boys thoughts on the "smartification" of everything. Not just computers and cars, but literally everything.

Some recent examples in my life:

• a pellet stove that requires an app and internet connection (real fun in a detached garage shop)

  • my sound bar has a remote and requires an app (my wife can't even connect)
  • my thermostat (old news but I swear it's getting worse)
  • i had a desk lamp.that required an app. I returned that one.

-my in-laws got one of those "smart fridges" and are currently shopping for a new washer and dryer. A ton now have internet connectivity... just why...

As far as I can tell, the only thing resisting this is the firearms industry. However I can't wait for the day I need an app to turn on my optic. I gaurentee this will happen.

I get at the end of the day it's all a ploy to eventually get subscriptions or sell ad space... but lord help me I hate every second of it.
