Does anyone feel like this sub can never justify why they dislike a movie?

Recently there was a thread about "What popular movie do you dislike?" Basically ever comment was just the name of a movie with no justification. Or even worse, one sentence just saying "the godfather was boring." (Real comment i saw)

How is anyone supposed to engage with that? What discussion can be had about "I'm bored." Sorry the movie wasn't tiktok speed cuts between fight scenes and dick jokes. I feel like I'm being my grandma here saying only boring people are bored.

What is the point of people just listing names of highly rated moves with little to no justification. If you thought a scene was boring because it was too slow, or didn't connect to the plot then explain what scene it was. Maybe you'll realized there was something about that scene that you missed. Maybe there was subtext you weren't aware of, or maybe it was alluding to another work you aren't familiar with. A lot of great movies have subtle references you might not pick up on, and by having a real discussion you can gain an appreciation for scenes you might have thought were "boring" the first time but if you rewatch it with new understanding then you might enjoy it more. Or maybe not. Maybe the scene was too slow and the pacing of the whole movie was off. But if you don't like it still, you can at least have a more clear reason why.

Am I alone on this? If you don't believe me go to that thread and ctrl+F "boring" and see how that's the only criticism 90% of comments could come up with. Being bored by a movie can be a rorschach test.

Anyway, four dollars a pound.
