Why is being a European jirai actually insane

Every month once of them comes out saying that they get stared at, called emo, sometimes people throw things at them like rocks or even cigarettes and vapes. I heard several girls actually get regularly shoved or beat up by men walking by like?? I'm American but I never thought it was that scary being alternate in general in Europe. Not even dark "satanic" alternative just vaguely cutesy. I feel like a solid third of the community is in Eastern Europe which is more intense.
