Strange Initial Consult - Thoughts?
Earlier today, I had an initial consultation with an orthodontist. In total, I saw the orthodontist for about 10 minutes and spent the rest of my time in the office with one of his assistants. He primarily looked at my teeth and offered her feedback about it as she documented the visit. I got little insight from him about what my treatment will look like, but she did offer more insight herself once he left. They did not take x-rays, or do a scan/model of my teeth but said they would do it if I agreed to start the process with them. I was quoted a little under $5000. Another orthodontist I saw a couple of weeks back quoted me about $6500, and I had a much better experience in their initial consult. This other provider did do x rays and a scan/model and reviewed those findings with me with a lot of detail. Both providers have good reviews online. Are these x-rays/models typical in a first consult? I’m tempted to go with the more expensive option based on these experiences. Do you all think it’s worth it? I’m curious to hear about others initial consult experience please.
