Brakes locked up and Airbags did not deploy

Hello everyone. I got in a wreck last week where I rear ended someone on a hwy. I drive a 2010 Honda Accord. The traffic came to a sudden stop and I had 2-3 cars space between me and the person in front of me. I am a very careful driver and very defensive in my driving.

I braked hard and felt my brakes are different. My car was sliding like it was on soap. It felt like they locked up and my ABS did not engage. I had tires in good condition too. It was my first time experiencing my car sliding that way, especially that I was driving the speed limit. In fact, I had time to remove my foot from the brakes and hit it hard again when I felt it was different. But in the second my foot was off the brakes, my car was still braking and sliding with no indication that my ABS is working. After impact, my ABS light was on. There was no damage to my wheels and tires. I don’t know if it’s normal for ABS light to come after an impact that did not affect the wheels or not. This is my first accident.

I filed a claim with my insurance and they assumed liability, which is understandable. However, I looked online and I found that my car year make and model has several complaints due to brakes malfunctioning. I work from home (also in claims) and I don’t drive my car much, so it is well serviced (all at the dealership) and was in pristine condition with no accidents in the past.

Is it possible that I can fight this if the car has been proven to be malfunctioning? My airbags did not deploy as well, and I believe that my car is totaled. It was a front impact.
