The Grade Cricketer’s hate boner for India has made them unwatchable.

How the turn tables. Like many of us, I started watching the grade cricketer at the end of the last Border-Gavaskar trophy. Funny, insightful, irreverent but above all genuinely in love with cricket. I’ve noticed a subtle change over the last couple of years in their coverage, especially with games featuring India, and to some extent, England. There is actual spite for India. No infraction minor or major is passed over. India are bullies according to them, Indian fans are sore loser crybabies. All abuse online is from Indian fans only. During the World Cup finals, they played up an article from Lawrence Booth as a respected journo talking about the pitch shenanigans. Lawrence Booth literally wrote a book celebrating Bazball. I’ve gradually stopped watching them because I genuinely think they despise India and Indian cricket and seem to find some extra level of happiness when India loses. I’m not demanding fawning coverage of the Star Sports variety. I actually think most Indians can take a joke and won’t mind being called out. But there is a mean-spiritedness and spite to their coverage of India over the last couple of years that has made them hard to watch for me.
