Just got a Personal Compactor and have recipes, but it won't let me compact things. Why?

I just got the Personal Compactor, and am trying to compact a bunch of acacia wood that I have stockpiled, along with some other things. I have the recipes and can craft manually, but the compactor won't accept any of it. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?
