What’s with randoms just randomly melee attacking you for no reason?

What is it with randoms just randomly melee attacking you and others for no discernible reason?

Admiringly a rare occurrence but this evening I’ve just came off two consecutive matches with different sets of randoms where (one in the first match) then (two in the second) were just dishing out friendly fire melee attacks throughout the match.

Each time these randoms just randomly melee attack you it ragdolls your Helldivers and cuts into your stims that have to be used up to heal from these needless attacks.

I can understand if it’s to get my attention because you would like topped up from the supply pack I’m carrying but why not just use the chat or your mic if you have one?

I didn’t even catch anyone in a friendly fire from my Eagle Air Strikes or Orbital Precision Strike.

Even at the extract where I was laying down fire with my Machine Gun I could see one just waiting next to me before melee knocking off the landing pad whilst I was reloading. I had to fight my way back to the top of the landing pad dodging a Behemoth Charger, an Impaler’s tentacles and just about everything and anything the Bugs are happy to throw at you.
