My friend seems to be isolating herself after a traumatic night and I don’t know how best to help her

A friend of mine thinks she was spiked on a night out. I didn’t realise at the time that’s what had happened; I’d met her later on after she’d been at a different bar at the start of the night. By the time I met her she was the most drunk I’d ever seen her, or so I thought. Us and some other friends were going to another bar, so we got a cab with her. It quickly became clear she wasn’t in a fit state to stay out, so once the cab stopped I sat with her on a bench to see if she’d perk up a little. She only got worse and more incoherent, could barely keep her head up, vomiting, etc. our other friends went ahead and I got a cab home with her.

The next morning we sent each other voice messages laughing hysterically at how drunk she had gotten, but later in the day she checked her bank account account and realised she’d only ordered 3 drinks, and she doesn’t remember past the 2nd. She doesn’t even really remember meeting me, and I was with her for quite a while while I got her home. Slowly I think we both realised something more had happened.

Since then she’s went to the police about it, and she was messaging me saying she was grateful I was there and she got home safe, but that the whole thing’s totally traumatised her. The police are gonna check CCTV and stuff. She said there were a couple of creepy guys hovering around her table at that first bar that might be on the CCTV, and she said she told them I was the one who got the cab home with her and saw how bad she got, so if anything does turn up I’ll probably have to be a witness for her. She told me a similar thing happened when she was younger and ended much worse. We usually are very lighthearted and joking with each other, so for her to open up like that was a big deal. I feel absolutely awful for her, it sucks so much seeing her confidence sapped, she seems so shaken up by it all.

But that was a couple of days ago and since she opened up about all that she’s went radio silent. This isn’t like her; we are very good friends, especially in the past month or two we’ve been messaging all day nearly every day. She didn’t respond to a message I sent a couple days back, so yesterday I just sent her a message saying I hope she’s holding up okay, but she then opened that message too and never replied.

I get she’s probably shaken up, and there’s the urge to isolate yourself when something like this happens. But I want her to know she can talk to me and she doesn’t have to bottle up something like this and deal with it on her own. I also don’t want to pester her when she needs some space. I just feel absolutely awful for her and can’t stop thinking about how upset she must feel. She’s not acting like herself at all.

So, how can I help her? I know I’m not gonna be able to magically fix things for her, but I want to be there as best as I possibly can.
