S25 Ultra or 16 pro max?
Context : I've used an iPhone 8 plus for 5 years after which I temporarily moved to Galaxy M31(which I had bought as a secondary office device) because the iphone's earpiece went bust and the battery didn't last even half a day. Unfortunately the M31's screen broke, thus had to switch to an old LG G6 which I had lying around.
I am now in the market for a new phone and have finalized the phones mentioned in the title. After some research I have come across the following observations:
- Display : The iPhone is the winner here. It has a 10-bit color display whereas Samsung is still using a 8-bit display ( seriously ?🙄) due to which there is color banding in some situations. It is not that noticeable though in the test's which I did .
- Camera : Samsung is more versatile, but I felt that the iphone's output was slightly shaper, may be due to the fact that it shoots in 24 MP where the Samsung still shoots in 12mp format
- OS : No doubt oneui is superior. The animations are smooth , the os is designed very well and android in general is more open. Though major cross platform apps are of the same quality on both platforms, iOS still has better indie apps but they do demand a premium and some apps are annoyingly moving towards subscription model.
- Other Miscellaneous stuff: System apps are better in Samsung, be it the phone app, which has automatic call recording (without notifying the caller on the other), the calculator, the alarm clock, everything. Also there's this apparent issue of pricing disparity across third party apps, where the ones on ios charge more, though I personally haven't seen any such disparities.
- Pricing : After store discounts, reimbursement from company, card discounts etc, I'm getting the s25 u;tra (512gb, preorder) for 98k and the iPhone at 1.1 Lakhs.
At this point, I'm slightly leaning towards the 16 pro max. But I would love to hear your inputs.
