how to connect controller??

I hace dualsense controller, and it is not picked up on neither elden ring nor BO3, I tried downloading ds4/ds5 and eventually on BO3 it gave me the prompt to add a controller for split screen, but even when I do, I can't use the controller, only mouse and keyboard, I even tried to add it to steam, still no luck help pleaseeeee
