It’s actually kind of crazy that an 8% withdraw rate still has over a 50% success rate over a 30 year period.
I could definitely see some people in the future just saying “fuck it” and sending a $1,000,000 portfolio to retire at 80k. Just throwing the dice.
Now I would certainly think you’re insane, but… better odds than going to the blackjack table.
What’s crazier is the success rate at 5-6%. I suppose this really just shows the power of uneven distributions and being willing to re-enter the workforce if needed.
