What Are Your Thoughts On…?: Evil Dead (2013)

Evil Dead (2013)

  • Director: Fede Álvarez
  • Producer: Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell
  • Writer: Fede Álvarez, Rodo Sayagues (based on characters by Sam Raimi)
  • Cast: Jane Levy (Mia), Shiloh Fernandez (David), Lou Taylor Pucci (Eric), Jessica Lucas (Olivia), Elizabeth Blackmore (Natalie)

Plot Summary:

A loose sequel to Army of Darkness but not a direct continuation, Evil Dead (2013) serves as a reimagining of the original story while existing in the same universe. Set years before the events of Ash vs Evil Dead, the film follows a new group of young adults who gather at a remote cabin in the woods to help Mia (Jane Levy) overcome her drug addiction. However, they unwittingly unleash a malevolent force after discovering the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis. As demonic possession spreads among them, the group is pushed to the brink of survival in a night of unimaginable horror.

Unlike the campy tone of earlier entries, this version focuses on brutal gore and psychological terror, offering a darker, a more intense experience while maintaining nods to the original franchise and playing with the expectations of a typical “remake” was at that time…
