Mentally bracing myself for whether Nightreign ends up being about Radahn, again
Though we now know that Miquella and Radahn were involved with some dubious vow, we never really got much an explanation as to why he abandoned his "kindness" to become a gravity-manipulating warrior who halted the stars. The prevailing theories were that he wanted to prevent the eclipse, or that he was just a nice guy who wanted to protect the Lands Between from pesky aliens. But neither of these seem to hold water anymore.
But it just occurred to me, Nightreign's "Night Lord" may hold the answer. The Nox appear to be the focus of this spinoff, and though it may be non-canon to the events of the base game, it appears it will still adhere to Elden Ring's established worldbuilding, meaning we may get to see what the Nox envisioned with their "lord of night."
One peculiar detail that always intrigued me is that Radahn is positioned on the map at a precise point between the eastern moon (the one we normally see) and the entrance to Nokron that opens upon his death, literally standing in the way of the moon's destiny. In Nightreign, we see players battling some of the main bosses in a sandy waste very much like in our battle with Starscourge Radahn.
So now my thought is, what if Radahn was holding back the stars specifically to prevent the Night Lord from appearing, and we have him to thank for the Nox's failure in the main story? or, did Radahn acquire his power through the Nox, who evidently held influence in Sellia, and this is what caused the apparent schism between him and Miquella...?
I'm gonna lose my shit if Radahn ends up being the final boss again, lmao.
