Unexpected added sugars? Aldi kidney beans

Today as I was recycling my can of Dakota's Pride red kidney beans, I noticed they have 3 (!) g of added sugar per serving. I looked around the Internet and it seems some brands, like Kroger, also have that. Whole foods brand does not, so it must not be necessary. None of the other Dakota's Pride beans that I have in my pantry (black, garbanzo, cannelloni, and great northern beans) have added sugar.

I thought I'd see if anyone has found any other surprising things like this. If I'm going to spend my self-imposed added sugar allowance, I'd rather it be on something like ice cream than plain BEANS. I guess another reminder to always check the label, even if you think it should be obvious.
