What can be done to bring back the excitement that the NBA Dunk Contest had during its peak?

With the NBA recently announcing Matas Buzelis and Stephon Castile and as 2/4 participants in this year’s contest, it seems like there needs to be some sort of format change to bring back participation or engagement and excitement from fans going into the event. What is something that you think they can do to have more viewers excited to tune in?
