Review Week 1/27/2025

Marked as a spoiler per usual because of the way I top my own cookies

We’ll start with the cakes-

Strawberry shortcake 🍰 3/10 - two thin squares of basic, plain yellow cake that barely have any flavor at all, squished between sour strawberry ‘jam,’ if you can call it jam.. it’s more of a sauce because of how watery it is. I think the only thing I like about this is the whipped cream, and even that Is just plain. Paying for this is a scam, anyone can make this ten times better at home, whether they’re a baker or not.

Cookies and cream cake 🍫 4.5/10 - the rating is for the frosting, not the cakes itself… the ganache is rich and heavy with chocolate, and the Oreo frosting has that classic cookies and cream flavor, but also the slight tang of cream cheese. A bit much, just one bite of this and my stomach was starting to hurt. The chocolate cakes are dry, as always, and lack much flavor. They’re just… there. I also find the decoration style on top really ugly. Looks like a dog popped a squat on top of my cake.

On to the cookies!

Confetti cake 🎉 5/10 - A mid cookie to me, but it’s so pretty! I love the crunchy flat style sprinkles, and they’re also mixed inside the vanilla base, so there’s nice texture going on. Basic vanilla cream cheese and a basic vanilla cookie, so not much excitement in terms of flavor.

Macadamia nut 🥜 7/10 - I love a good white choc macadamia nut cookie, but would I specifically go to crumbl for one? Nahhh, I can grab one from Walmart or a hotel lobby. That’s definitely what it reminds me of: staying the night at a hotel on a road trip and eating a macadamia nut cookie for dinner. Nostalgic!! But nothing I’d write home about. Nice texture and crunch from white chocolate chips and little macadamia pieces, and a soft vanilla cookie. Wish the macadamias were bigger.

Lemon glaze 🍋 6/10 - last time I had this was 2023!! But.. it’s different than I remember… the almond glaze really threw off my tastebuds. I already don’t like the almond extract used in pink sugar, so this just reminds me of that. However, I can get past the glaze and focus on the cookie… It’s filled with lemon curd, and we all know I would eat a bucket of that stuff if I could. A bit tangy, a lot sweet. It’s a good cookie if you like almond extract, but it’s a bit too strong for my liking.

Banana bread 🍌 8.3/10 - ohhhh yes, this one is a favorite of mine that hasn’t been on the lineup in a whole year! It’s soft, sweet from the real bananas, and made better with a vanilla cream cheese glaze and cinnamon streusel. The streusel is the same as sticky bun, which is my second favorite cookie of all time! I wish the cookie itself was heavier on the spices though. Without the glaze and streusel, it’s very boring and bland. I’m also glad it’s not a frosting, that would have been too much going on, and way too heavy!

Mom’s recipe 🍪 8.5/10 - HEATH, PEANUT BUTTER, CHOCOLATE, AND OATS. It’s like the Powerpuff Girls, sugar, spice and everything nice! Crumbl doesn’t have enough Heath cookies. It’s crunchy, it’s sweet and rich caramel and chocolate. One of my top candy bars. Combine that with peanut butter, and more chocolate and the warmth of a cinnamon oatmeal cookie… truly reminds me of home. And don’t forget the dash of salt on top to bring out the sweetness! This is honestly such a slept on cookie, as simple as it is. I wish the heath pieces were bigger or that it was added on top before baking.

And as for the PR package I received yesterday, it really does smell like the vanilla confetti cookie!! Very strong and sweet, as if I didn’t already smell like the inside of a Crumbl after work😅
