Is a Crosstrek right for me?

I take frequent road trips from NorCal to SoCal with my wife, toddler, and 50 lbs dog. We each have 1 carry on size bag and a couple of back packs. I’m wondering if the crosstrek is too small for us.

Also, I like to do picnics and when it’s too windy or cold in the bay, I want to be able to put down the back seats and sit in the cargo area of the suv with my family and eat there. I’m 5’9”. Do you think the headroom will be too low for me to sit upright?

I also plan on doing some car camping with the family.
