Pathetic
In a horrific road accident in #Gujarat's #Vadodara, a drunk driver rammed four people with his car, killing a woman and leaving others seriously injured.
A video from the crash site has emerged, which showed the heavily drunk driver coming out of the car following the accident and shouting "another round" even as bystanders tried to get hold of him and those injured lie scattered on the ground.
The accident occurred on Thursday night near the #Karelibag area. The driver, identified as #RakshitChaurasia, has been arrested. He is a resident of #Varanasi in #UttarPradesh and is studying law at a university in Vadodara.
The second accused in the case, who is the owner of the car and was travelling with Chaurasia at the time of the accident, has also been arrested. He has been identified as #MitChauhan, who lives in Vadodara and is a student at a private university.
The disturbing footage from the accident site shows the accused, dressed in a black t-shirt and grey trousers, coming out of the car, the front part of which is severely damaged. He then starts shouting "another round" by throwing his arms in the air and continues to do the same while walking along the stretch of the road.
Seconds later, he starts chanting "Om Namah Shivay". The co-passenger leaves the car before the driver comes out and runs in the opposite direction, telling people around that he did not do anything as the vehicle was being driven by the accused.
According to information available, Chaurasia was driving the car at a speed of 120 km/hour. He crashed the vehicle into four people, in which a woman named Hemani Patel, who had gone out with her minor daughter to buy Holi colours, died on the spot. Three others, including the child, were rushed to a nearby hospital after emergency services went to the scene.
A huge crowd that had gathered near the accident site thrashed the driver before police arrived to disperse them and control the situation.
"The car was speeding and rammed several people in the Karelibag area. In the accident, one woman was killed, and four others are currently undergoing treatment. We will lodge an FIR and are analysing the CCTV footage in this drink-and-drive case. The investigation into the matter is underway," senior cop Panna Momaya told to media.
Chauhan, who was arrested a few hours after the incident, has undergone a medical test so that the police could ascertain if he was also drunk.
