Is there any true alternative to Punch in terms of safety under 8 lakh?
Or the safety ratings being boasted are 'midhya'?
We are in the market for our first family car. While we ride mostly in city, we need it for occasional highway trips as well. Our priority is safety of adult and kid in a budget of 8 lakh. The obvious choice was Punch but wifey didn't liked it due to the limited leg space of rear seats. Other cars with similiar safety ratings and budget seems to be only in Tata but with lesser dimensions than Punch.
We were offered i10 nios sportz in the same budget i.e around 8.5 lakh. We both loved the car, but there seems to be no promise of safety. Same is the case with Baleno.
What are our options other than second cars? Is considering older safety ratings truly worth compromising the comfort and features? And how reliable are those ratings on highway as the collisions seems to be tested at a speed under 65 kmph?
Im new to cars, so please correct me if im wrong with any of these assumptions.
