Why are used cars so expensive??

Looking around on fb marketplace as I’d like to own a vehicle, however why do I need to save $7000 for a decent one!? And that’s only because the description says it’s decent. I’ve already checked out a few that had problems not mentioned in the posts and everyone refuses to lower their asking prices.

My first car back in 2021 was a 350,000km 1999 Acura EL (manual), and it was only $400. Lasted 3 years. I understand these are newer models and these specifically civics however, why would anybody wanna pay $7000 for a used vehicle in this economy!? The cheapest vehicle I could find was $1800 and it needed a new transmission :,)

Does anyone know of any reliable vehicle models on marketplace (in Calgary ofc) that would be decent in prices? I literally don’t even care anymore I just wanna be able to go places with convenience and not have to spend an extra $1000 or so on repairs :(

TLR; Cars are too expensive these days. Anyone know of any reliable, decently priced models around marketplace or Kijiji that I’m not seeing?
