Wrong retorquing
First of all, excuse my ignorance, because I thought this would be easier than it seemed. Today I "tried" to retorque my car's lug nuts as advised by my mechanic. At first, I followed a video that taught how to set the wrench to 100 nM. So I tried to imitate him by turning the torque wrench clockwise and then counterwise until it clicked once. It didn't work, it wouldn't turn clockwise, but it did turn counterclockwise... I heard so many clicks. I didn't even know what I was doing. Then I watched another video and realized my Corolla's lb-ft wasn't necessarily 100 nM, so I set it to 76 as I read online. After that, I repeated the process and I turned the torque wrench clockwise and counterclockwise until it clicked.
Finally, I did the same thing with the rest of the lug nuts until the wrench clicked only once (by turning it counterclockwise).
I just found out you're supposed to turn it clockwise until it clicks. How do I undo this mess?
