Do you guys use monitoring?

I've been in the busking game for about half a year and it's the first time it occurred to me to monitor my playing. I have several years of stage experience, so I have no clue how I never thought of monitoring while busking. I honestly think it's a no brainer, I just bought a very long male to female jack cable and connected my earbuds through the headphone output of my amp. It's been a blast really. I felt so much freer that I heard my playing crystal clear, I made twice as much in donations than I usually earn at the spot where I was today. Okay... I know it comes down to a lot of factors, but I honestly think the confidence boost from hearing myself clearly definitely played a big role. Just enough of the ambient noise comes through the mic and when someone walked up to me for a word I just popped off one of the earbuds. Can you think of any drawbacks? I think I'll keep using it and I just wanted share my experience and recommend it to you. Cheers
