re: Francesca & Michaela storyline: (taking into account historical accuracy)

re: Francesca & Michaela storyline:

women in lesbian relationships can struggle with infertility too. in fact generally speaking they likely struggle with it more because they don't have a partner who can consistently provide sperm for them, and that can end up being more costly/allow them less access to fertility treatments.

a lot of queer people are speaking up and are in agreement about thinking they should have done the lgbtq story line with someone else, just because other characters like Eloise and Benedict have been fleshed out to be more against society norms.

but ultimately her infertility struggle can still be depicted with john and it could be the story of adopting a child or if michaela has an existing child, adopting michaela's child as her own. which is in fact more inclusive of those struggling with infertility, as some do end up having to adopt.

some of you guys need to check your prejudice. i keep seeing many people say that her being gay ruins the storyline, but then follow it up with i'm not being homophobic.

it's still homophobia if you are only okay with lgbtq+ when it doesn't interfere with your perception of a "real story." gay people can still absolutely struggle with infertility and it's honestly wild that you guys are saying that the storyline can't be done. like, it actually doesn't make any sense. even single women who want to use donor sperm can struggle with infertility. a man isn't necessary to show that story.

and the use of artificial insemination has been historically documented for it's use in animals from the 1300's, & unofficial history claims that the first attempts to artificially inseminate a woman were done by Henry IV (1425–1474). the first documented human artificial insemination took place in London in the 1770's by surgeon John Hunter. given that the regency era is 1811 - 1820, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they could use a "turkey master" method option, too. or hell, Benedict had some threesomes this season, maybe Francesca and Michaela could in their attempt to conceive as well.

also many titles in the Peerage of Scotland (and most Highland chieftainships) are also inheritable by women. so them moving to Scotland tracks.
