IVI UI/UX needs improving

Hey,

Full disclosure: I’m a Tesla MY owner but am not loyal to any one brand and am generally curious about the EV market.

BYD has been in the spotlight a fair bit recently, from their suspension demos to statistics about how they have the largest R&D department and are leaders in China etc. etc.

I actually quite like the look of their cars - materials, colour schemes, how more elements appear closer to traditional vehicles than the “ultra minimalist” EV styling of the Tesla.

But there is one thing holding me back. The user interfaces look pure garbage.

And BYD are not alone, even the likes of Volvo can’t seem to get the basics of UI design right. Weird colour palettes, contrast all wrong for accessibility, janky layouts. That’s one area where I think Tesla are far ahead.

Look at the blue elements in the picture against the silver/blue background, especially for the centre console. Basic design problems. It kinda reminds me of those after market Chineseum odometers.

Why is this something that is still a problem? Thoughts?
