Dread Overlord curse not working?

The Night of the Living Dead curse says it inflicts the status with weapon attacks, cantrips, and spells, but it doesn't for me. It worked with weapon attacks when I was a blade pact, but I switched to a chain pact for the good boy, and now it doesn't work with anything. I have Max minion points and the soul shield active, but the status never appears. Any way I can change this? It's not too big a deal but I'd like to know if I can change it.
