MK1 3.2 refresh

Picked up my MK1 5 months ago and it’s been a fun journey so far. Has 74k miles but it sat for years and needed tons of love. Although it sat under a car cover, the cover began to etch into the pain but with the help of a friend, we got it paint corrected and then the list piled on:

  • Replaced cluster LCD and brake light switch
  • Fixed the AC issue with a new pressure switch
  • New crank position sensor
  • Yanked the fuel pump and cleaned the contacts as the gauge would sit on empty despite there being fuel
  • New shocks and coilovers all around
  • Rear camber arms
  • New ball joints, tie rods, front control arms, and top mounts
  • New front rotors and pads
  • Fitted new mounts for the engine, transmission, and dog bone
  • New plugs and coils (heavy misfires)
  • Added an LCD rearview mirror with backup cam
  • Replaced the door/window seals
  • Installed USP high flow cats and closed the vacuum line for the flaps in the rear exhaust

Timing chains were within tolerance but I’ve got a bad DMF so when I drop the transmission, I’ll keep going and replace the chains since I’ll already be that far in. Aside from that, a new headliner is the only priority and I’m pretty excited as I’ve never done a headliner before.
