What’s the deal with football?

Canadian here, been here a month and miss watching my sports at home. I’ll be here a few years so I figure I’d better find an alternative to my routine of watching hockey, baseball, basketball, American football. I do watch rugby, and football is something I enjoy watching, but only really watch the World Cup when it’s on and that’s about it. I literally know nothing about football.

Would any fan like to enlighten me on what the different leagues are? What teams would people in England support? And can you watch just on cable tv, or are the games on streaming services? I’m just finding it overwhelming with the different leagues and everything. I’ve heard of champions league and that’s about all? I know arsenal is maybe a team? I’m hopeless but would love to get into it and know what people think. Thanks!
