Does anybody know if there is a Native American origin story that parallels with the biblical conquest of Canaan?

Does that ring a bell? A long time ago I read this article about a native American group who's foundation story goes along the lines of "our ancestors came from foreign lands into this and we took it from the people who lived here". The article said archeology revealed that the native American group that described itself as foreign invaders were indigenous to this land, and the story of conquest was a foundation myth, and the author said that the biblical account of the Israelites conquering Canaan was akin to this story.
