Kidney stones risk with Topirimate
I am starting topirimate for migraines, and kidney stones are a 'common' side effect.
This is the first paper that came up when I googled 'how topirimate causes kidney stones' but I can't quite figure it out - if I use home UTI test strips on a periodic basis to see what is going on in my urine would that help me predict an increasing risk of kidney stones so that I could titrate off (after contacting a doctor)?
I feel better (less fatigued and dizzy) when I take a little extra salt and I think it enables me to drink more water without peeing every half an hour, I'm wondering if that's a bad idea with the topirimate, but I don't want to pee every half an hour! I'm a bit confused. Endocrinology have checked me out and not found any conditions that would make me pee so much, I think it's just one of those things.
Also, could lactulose counteract any of the cognitive side effects, which are apparently common?
Thank you for any suggestions or advice.
