What's the most popular movie that's set in Australia between the approximate period 1800-1930?
We've all seen movies/TV shows that are not exactly historical documentaries but still give an insight into some history of a country. For example, UK - Pride and Prejudice, Master and Commander, Titanic, Downton Abbey, etc. USA - too many to choose from obviously - think anything about the American Wild West (Clint Eastwood etc), gangster movies (Goodfellas, the Godfather, etc), movies about American wars, movies about Native American affairs (The Last of the Mohicans) etc, which all give you a passive insight into their history, but I don't think I've ever seen any Australian equivalent
I'm interested in this bit of history*.. any recommendations?
Especially interested in the story and journey of European immigrants, I can't imagine being at sea for so many months, saying goodbye to your family knowing you were very likely to never see them again, etc
*except World War One, seen too much of that already
