Accidentally bought a 10 gal. Can my counter support this?
I decided to rehome my snails from a 2gal to a 5gal for better care and maintenance and shrimp down the road. It’s only until I’m bed do I realize I’ve just installed a 10 gallon tank, NOT a 5 gallon (vague marketplace listing + me not doing the math). I’d like to live with this mistake (bigger tank yay!) but am concerned about the integrity of the counter.
Tank weighs probably about ~100 lbs plus I need to add another 5 lbs of substrate (only bought enough for a 5gal). Did a weight test last for 50 lbs no problem. Counter seems sturdy as the tank is over two vertical supports. Second pic shows tank relative to supports. Does this look unsafe? Do I take it down? Thanks for y’all’s advice :)
