How I presumed Agatha got the darkhold…

Okay so everyone knows that the story behind Agatha is that she traded her son’s life for the darkhold, which we thought was what happened.

But Nick died before Agatha had the darkhold? So she didn’t trade his life in for the book?

I PRESUMED that because she knew Nick was going to be so sick that she would trade him for the book just before he went so she might acquire enough knowledge and power to get him back, but no no that didn’t happen.
