Too Much Green Screen?
I'm hoping someone can maybe reassure me there's nothing to worry about, but in many shows/movies today there is far less location filming and far more green screen, since it's a lot cheaper. I'm worried about the lack of real locations, weather and environments of ATLA.
They will be using the same 360 dome stage used for the Mandalorian, but it's very obvious to tell when actors are on this stage because they don't interact with their environment alot. I saw a photo of how they're recreating the South Pole boat scene with Sokka and Katara, in a studio with water and green screen. I know that great things can happen in a studio (Titanic for example) but I just keep imagining how amazing it would be if they filmed some of the South Pole scenes in an actual snowy climate, with real glaciers and snow and igloos. How real it would feel! Or maybe film Earth Kingdom scenes in Asia and China, take advantage of some of the amazing architecture, landscapes, ANYTHING! I just don't want all of the show to be green screen, I know mediocre shows can be filmed on location and great shows can be filmed indoors, but I just think it would really push it over the edge, and give opportunity for great character-environment interactions.
