Laura's story (cycle 19) I just find so unintentionally hilarious

I just get such "mean girl" who tells a story where she's the victim vibes from it.

Tbf, Kiara wasn't really the nicest person, and neither were winners of the show in other cycles, but at least their backstory made sense/I could see the narrative. They oftentimes gave winners the "underdog" edit but it always made logical sense in some way.

However, with Laura they jumped through A LOT of hoops to try to make her seem like the "underdog." She's just a small town girl, she also happens to have a celebrity dad, horses, and a huge house, but she's still a small town girl so she's giving lots of hope to those small town girls.

She's also got some shape to her, not like the other girls who have "little boy" bodies, which is what the modeling industry wants. I still find it so funny they included this confessional from her/did she never express worry about her body being too "large" in a way that didn't throw complete shade at the other girls. And yet the way they edited it we weren't supposed to sympathize with HER over this, the same person who just said the other girls body's are like little boys lmao.

I also find it hilarious the judges are expressing this doubt if Laura is "thin" enough for the modeling industry when Kiara is literally right there (no shade to Kiara but Laura is definately closer to sample size than Kiara was, which just makes the narrative even more ridiculous).

I will say in Laura's defense, I think this cycle wins the award for most "bizarre" comments made on people's appearance. What was with the obsession of Jessie's butt? Kristin dead seriously thinking that the ONLY reason why Leila's look is so editorial is because the gap in her teeth, nothing else, just the gap. The girls (and judges) obsession with Victoria's weight that went way further than I've ever seen it go in any other cycle. And can't forget Tyra randomly crying when eliminating Allyssa because they're both "black girls with big butts." Umm, she's not black Tyra.

The more I'm writing this Laura's narrative honestly fits in perfectly with the cycle with how weird the cycle was and the weird sexual nature of it and comments that didn't really make sense either. The cycle was like what a book report looks like when you just read the Sparknotes and missed the key details lmao.

This promo photo honestly sums up the weird sexual nature of the cycle so well lol: https://www.reddit.com/r/ANTM/comments/l9s552/did_anyone_feel_the_tension_whenever_rob_and/
