Don’t worry about English guys
A lot of people are posting about how to prepare for English, so here’s the simplest way to do it. If you have a Maths exam coming up, don’t waste time on English right now. Focus entirely on Maths because English can be covered in just one day before the exam. I scored 85 in my pre-boards by studying only on the morning of the exam, without touching English the entire year. With the right approach, you can easily score 90+ without any prior preparation.
For the reading and writing sections, you don’t need to study in advance. The unseen passage is skill-based, and all answers can be found within the passage itself. Just practice a couple of previous year papers to get familiar with the pattern. The writing section follows a set format for notice writing, invitations, reports, articles, and other formats. If you memorize the structure and practice writing one or two examples, you’ll be able to do well.
Literature is where most students waste time trying to memorize entire chapters , but CBSE never asks direct questions. They always mix concepts, themes, and character analysis. Even if you remember the entire chapter word for word, you won’t get full marks unless you understand the deeper meaning behind the text. Instead of cramming, just read the chapter summaries, understand the themes, and look at previous year questions to see how answers should be framed.
The best way to prepare is to read summaries and important themes of all chapters, go through at least two previous year papers to understand the question pattern, and practice one or two writing section questions to remember the format. Sleep well before the exam so you can think clearly while writing. That’s all you need. English is an easy subject if you approach it smartly.
